Pain in the lower back-Back pain
Our lumbar spine consists of five vertebrae (O1-O5). With the term lumbago we mean the pain, the pain in the back. All of us have more or less complained of severe lower back pain. This is due to chronic overloading of the vertebrae or a sudden injury.
The causes are multiple such as:
- H years sedentary lifestyle which is far from exercise.
- Work that locks the spine into incorrect static and movement patterns.
- Increased body weight.
- Repetitive weight lifting combined with lumbar rotation.
- Bad posture.
- Vibration throughout the body.
- Monotonous work.
- Poor physical condition.
- Poor or insufficient trunk motor control.
- Back pain has a greater effect on people who engage in heavy manual work compared to those who engage in office work.
The main pathology of low back pain varies according to age, sex and heredity. For example, osteoporosis that occurs in women affects symptoms in the lower back. Also, at younger ages up to 30 years old, depending on the work or a sport, there can be serious lower back injuries or even disc disease. In addition, arthritis, osteomyelitis, kidney disease or cancer affect the architecture of the spine creating serious problems.
THE physical therapy in back pain
Physiotherapy is a multidimensional science, able to intervene in all ages in different ways depending on the case. The treatment of patients with back pain is located in the reduction of pain and due attention is given to the cause that causes the pain.
In order to evaluate the patient, it will be necessary to make a detailed assessment of the mobility of each vertebra, in order to determine whether it moves more than normal (instability) or less than normal (hypomobility).
The assessment is a weapon that helps the physical therapist understand the situation in every detail and ultimately organize the treatment plan that will bring the best results.
