The effectiveness of cocoa pod extract as an anti-wrinkle gel for our skin.
Cocoa pods are materials found in cocoa plantations, which are usually thrown away.
The next big wrinkle-reducing ingredient may be a waste chocolate-making material, according to Malaysian researchers.
In a study published in the journal Aesthetic Dermatology, researchers used the antioxidant benefits of cocoa beans in an anti-wrinkle gel and I saw results.
These pods contain antioxidant compounds, namely malic acid, procyanidin B1, rosmarinic acid, procyanidin C1, apigenin and ellagic acid. The researchers decided to use them in the preparation of anti-wrinkle by evaluating the effects.
Cocoa extract (CPE) was incorporated into a gel, and its concentration was calculated using fibroblast cells by determining how much could be used while maintaining their viability, the cells' 50% (EC50), in short the researchers wanted to include an effective concentration as not to damage the cells.
The gel was tested to determine the effectiveness of CBE in gel form using Visioscan to reduce skin wrinkles and improve skin condition, after 12 testers tested the gel, skin wrinkles improved approx. 7% with the preparation, after three weeks the improvement was around 13% the improvement was noticeable as the treatment progressed. The researchers concluded that CPE could benefit the skin and is considered to be an ingredient that has a future in skin cosmetics and especially in anti-wrinkle products.
