How Often Should We Change Makeup Products?

Makeup products

For all of us which we want to maintain tthe healthy glow of our face, here are some helpful tipss for the duration and care of our cosmetics.

Mascara should be replaced every three months, as it is a thick liquid and its daily exposure to air makes it vulnerable to bacteria. Its prolonged use could cause various conditions in the eye area, such as conjunctivitis. Also be careful when sharing your own mascara with others. It is not considered safe.

Our next stop is liquid eyeliner, which should be replaced every six months. However, eyeliners can last up to two years. Sharpen your pencils to keep them clean and easy to use. Also clean the scraper regularly with a used toothbrush.

Make-ups usually last up to a year, however special attention should be paid if the liquid make-up starts to smell strange or changes in texture and color are observed. If you're prone to acne, it's a good idea to replace your makeup every six months and wash your hands, sponges and brushes very, very often.

Lip glosses, due to their density, should be replaced more often than regular lipsticks. A good suggestion is to replace them every 12 months. Likewise, the concealers. Due to their composition, it would be good to change them every year. However, if it is a powder concealer, then these can last up to two years, just like non-liquid lipsticks.

If you notice a change in the color of your nail polish or even a bad smell, it's time to part with it. The typical ones nail polishes last up to two years. Some companies write the expiry date on the back of the bottle. When buying nail polish it's a good idea to check the expiry date in case it might be old stock. Alternatively you could mark the date of purchase on the bottle with a marker.

Powders, blushes, bronzers and eyeshadows last up to two years with proper care. And of course, don't forget to clean your brushes regularly!

Finally, the temperature can harm your favorite products. So be very careful of the heat and place them for protection in a bag inside the fridge. So you will have bonus coolness during application!
