Initiation into the magical world of Reflexology

Initiation into the magical world of Reflexology

Recent years in our country it has startedand reflexology is gaining ground, an unknown to many body relaxation method achieved through pressure in the reflective zones of the body which are mainly located on the soles, hands and ears. Reflexology

Specifically, in reflexology, special relaxation techniques are applied with the aim of balancing the body and activating its self-healing powers.

According to the philosophy of Reflexology, this therapeutic method is based on the assumption that our body works with energy, which runs through it from head to toe, through energy channels, which are mainly reflected in our upper and lower limbs.

In other words, there are in the hands and feet, as well as in other parts of the body (ears, face, etc.), zones and reflex points that are connected to every organ of the human body.

Once these points are stimulated through pressure from the therapist, they are then activated, discharged and then lead the body to find its original balance.

The treatment focuses on the soles and other parts of the limbs where reflex points have been identified.

The therapist applies controlled pressure to the reflex points, either with his fingers or with wooden aids (sticks).

Through the application of pressure and massage on the extremities (soles), hyperemia is created and blood circulation is improved, while the immune mechanism is strengthened and stimulated. Reflexology, however, offers more than just balancing the body. It can even help relieve pain.

To avoid any confusion or misunderstanding, reflexologists do not diagnose, prescribe medication, or claim to cure.

It is worth mentioning that Reflexology is contraindicated in the following cases:

If not at least two hours have passed since the last meal.

When a foreign body is present (e.g. pacemaker, implant, etc.).

After a recent heart attack.

When there is a clot.

When there are skin diseases, fungal infections, etc. (socks can be used in these cases)

And in other cases for which you will be informed by an expert.

See a specialist

In Greece, the Association of Greek Reflexologists (www.reflexology.gr) has been established, where you can find a lot of useful information about the value of reflexology and also search through a special form for a specialist near your home.

Either way, a visit to a certified reflexologist and a 45- to 60-minute session is sure to make you feel like a different person. Dare it!
