Many migraine sufferers hesitate to exercise, fearing that if they push themselves too hard, they will trigger a crisis. Exercise against migraine. However, exercise can to have exactly the opposite effect.

In one of the most detailed studies on the subject, published last month in the journal Cephalalgia, scientists from Sweden divided 91 volunteers into three groups. One group was recommended 40 minutes of exercise three times a week. The second was given the drug topiramate, which prevents migraine attacks. And in the third they recommended systematic relaxation exercises.

The volunteers followed the program that had been recommended to them for three months, while the researchers monitored them for another six months.
The researchers found that migraine attacks were reduced equally in all three groups. So they noted in their article that those patients who want to reduce their migraines without taking drugs, exercise can be a good alternative.

In another, smaller study, the same research team recruited 26 sufferers and monitored them before, during and after exercise on a stationary bike. The volunteers did stationary cycling three times a week for three months.
At the end of the study, they had an improvement in their cardiovascular condition and a reduction in the number and severity of their migraine attacks.
