School of Calisthenics
Welcome to the calisthenics school
What is Calisthenics?
Calisthenics is basically an anaerobic training system, which aims to increase mainly the strength of the exerciser, but without using machines or external weights.
The body weight of the exerciser himself or even a fellow athlete is used as resistance.
This fitness system includes a variety of multi-joint exercises, single or combined, which act in a natural way, bringing about impressive results in muscle development and strengthening of the whole body, always aiming at symmetry and harmony.
But beyond the strength (vigor) and beauty (callus) of a symmetrically trained body, Calisthenics brings about improvements and develops to the maximum skills such as balance, flexibility, endurance, coordination and physical and mental control.
Calisthenic Gymnastics is Greek
And it has its roots in Ancient Greece. Handsome and strong. Beauty and strength.
Beauty in the body, with the cultivation of symmetry and harmony, and beauty in the spirit, with the promotion of morals and inner perfection.
Strength in the body by the cultivation of vigor and vigor and strength in the spirit by the promotion of discipline, courage, mental strength.
Beauty and strength, two concepts that are intertwined and are inseparable for the ancient Greeks.
For this reason the word Callistheniki comes from the combination of these two concepts.
We know from written testimonies, depictions on vases and frescoes - with the most typical example being the bullfights in Minoan Crete - that the ancient Greek athletes and warriors used the Callisthenic Training to train themselves in many ways. It was their basic training system to prepare for a battle, to take part in competitions or simply to keep body and mind healthy.
