Bread & Salt
I grew up fascinated by my father's stories about his restaurants in America. I don't know if it was what made me want to cook as a teenager or some other intervention played its part, but the fascination never left the back of my mind. Leaving my mechanical engineering studies behind to pursue cooking, I knew very well that one day I would have my own restaurant. It was May 1996.
Returning to Greece, I found Panagiotis, my little brother, looking for a job. He had just finished a tourism school, but his hyperactivity made it impossible for him to work in an office. Answer an ad for a waiter. I remember that when I took him from the interview, I told him that if he followed this profession, maybe in the future we could join forces and achieve something together. He didn't answer, but I knew he agreed.
Almost 8 years later and after Panagiotis and I had already started looking for a place to open our restaurant, a shopkeeper from the square of Ag. Nikolaou in Chalandri reported that the bank at 8 Eleftherot Square is leaving and the property remains vacant. A large property and a large investment, the two of us would have to take it for a walk.
We have known Stefanos for many years since school, constant friends. Looking to do business and knowing about our own search, he learned about the property. It took 3 weeks to convince us. It was October 2008.
This is how Bread & Salt was born, a Greek restaurant born from the dreams of three young people who want to offer unforgettable experiences, having a good time themselves, doing what they love.
This is us! We open our house and welcome you!
"Bread & Salt" has been awarded a Golden Hat and a Gourmet award.
