These are the new trends in aesthetic medicine

Neck treatments, personalized peels, tattoo removal sessions and hair-enhancing treatments have been gaining ground in recent months. Dermatologist dr. Amalia Tsiatoura, its scientific director Cosmetic Derma Medicine, informs us about the latest developments in the field of non-surgical interventions.

THE neck swan
According to the latest data, there is an increasing trend for operations that combat laxity in the neck, mainly in the USA. Dr. Chiatura states: "Non-invasive treatments at the dermatologist are based on radio frequencies in combination with ultrasound that offer tightening painlessly, the fractional laser that tightens the oval of the face and the combination of botox-hyaluronic injections that have grown exponentially internationally since last year. Finally, especially for relaxing the neck absorbable threads it is now an ideal treatment."

Multi... peeling
In the dermatology clinic, the last word is the personalized peeling application. "We do not strictly choose a substance if the patient's skin is dealing with various issues, e.g. it's mixed, has dark circles, acne scars. We can apply mandelic acid almost all over the surface for a glow, trichloroacetic acid for acne scars and lactic acid for dark circles." Therefore, the combination of peelings during the same application offers a solution to many problems.

Thick hair and eyebrows
"Non-invasive treatments for hair loss combine autologous mesotherapy and low frequency laser (LLLT). Studies show that after a few sessions, hair growth increases, especially in early stage hair loss," explains the doctor. The most modern protocol recently presented at the ISHRS (International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery) conference in Chicago includes a combination of laser, PRP, amino acid supplementation and application of minoxidil to the scalp.

Laser for scars, wrinkles and acne
It erases wrinkles and scars, provides firmness to mild problems, improves the appearance of blemishes and is finally applied to acne. Research shows that fractional laser reduces bacterial population and inflammation. However, the method is often applied in combination with others (peeling, special products, etc.).

Tattoo removal
"In the last year, the number of people coming to the clinic to erase a tattoo has increased. The removal procedure is simple and is done by applying a Q switch Nd: Yag laser under local anesthesia (anesthetic cream or injectable xylocaine). Depending on the depth and colors of the tattoo, at least 7 sessions are needed," concludes Dr. Chiatura.
