Ear plastic - Otoplasty
THE otoplasty, is a cosmetic procedure to improve the appearance of a patient's ears. Although otoplasty does not affect hearing, it can psychologically help anyone who has problems with the size of their ears, has suffered a serious ear injury, or simply wants to improve their appearance.
Otoplasty provides a solution to two deformities: protruding (dropped) ears and large ears.
What can otoplasty correct?
With the otoplasty operation, several aesthetic abnormalities of the ears can be corrected, such as: 1. Large or protruding ears 2. Lop ear (the top of the ear folds down or inward) 3. Cupped ear (small ear) 4. Shell ear (no outer curve in the cartilage) 5. Large, pulled, or torn earlobes 6. Wrinkled earlobes
You are considered a suitable candidate for otoplasty when:
1) You want to improve the appearance of your ears 2) Otoplasty can be done on children aged 4 to 14, but it can benefit people of all ages. 3) You are generally healthy. 4) Have realistic expectations.
How is otoplasty performed?
Otoplasty takes about hours and is performed under local anesthesia. Otoplasty begins with a small incision made in the natural crease behind the ear. Then the new shape of the cartilage is formed to achieve the desired result. After the cartilage is reshaped, stitches are used to close the incisions and a bandage is placed around the head to ensure the ears are in the correct position. To achieve a better balance, the operation can be done on both ears even if the problem is only in one of them.
What is recovery from otoplasty like?
Patients of all ages return to their activities within a few hours, but may feel pain for a few days. They may need pain medication. Otoplasty provides a solution to two deformities: protruding ears and large ears. A few days after otoplasty, the bandages around the head are replaced with ear gauzes which are removed in 1 week. The stitches are removed within 1 week. For the first 2 weeks after surgery, patients should sleep on their backs and not on their sides. After 1 week after surgery, children can return to school and adults can return to work and resume their daily activities. After the ear incisions have completely healed, there will be a small scar on the back of the ears. However, due to the location of the scars they will be almost invisible and will become less visible over time.
What are the risks of otoplasty?
A small percentage of patients may develop a blood clot in the ear. This clot generally dissolves on its own or can be dissolved with a needle. Another potential risk is infection of the cartilage, a condition that can cause scar tissue to form. It can be treated with antibiotics, but may require surgical repair.
Rhinoplasty
THE rhinoplasty, is one of the most common surgical procedures performed today. It can correct the shape, reduce or increase the size of the nose in order to achieve facial harmony and increase self-confidence. It can also correct a birth defect or some injury to the nose such as a fracture. Many people are not happy with the appearance of their nose and are looking for a method that will correct any irregularities and achieve the desired result. Rhinoplasty can be performed not only for aesthetic reasons but also for functional ones. Combining nasal reshaping with septum plastic can effectively treat certain breathing problems such as those created by a deviated (crooked) septum. The operation of rhinoplasty is done to restore the shape of the nose in harmony with the rest of the face, improving the overall appearance of the face. The non-esthetically acceptable appearance of the nose can be a congenital problem, either after an injury or disease, or after some type of surgery in this area. The desired result is a more attractive shape of the nose that more closely follows the aesthetic proportions of the face. After a careful examination of the skin and the nose skeleton by the doctor, it is possible for the surgeon to explain the realistic expectations that the patient can have for the result after this type of operation. Often, if there is an abnormality in the cartilage of the nose that makes it difficult for the patient to breathe, this can be corrected during the same operation. The operation can be done either with the use of local anesthesia, or with the use of general anesthesia. Under the care of a skilled and experienced surgeon, rhinoplasty can transform the appearance of the face while preserving the individual character of the patient, with amazing results that can improve the emotional, physical and overall well-being of the patient. Most patients are completely satisfied with the result of rhinoplasty.
Classic Rhinoplasty
The incisions are made inside the nostrils. The nasal bone, cartilage and soft tissues are reshaped through these incisions to improve the appearance.
Open Rhinoplasty
This technique is often used on difficult, oversized noses or reoperations in the nasal area. It involves an external incision in the skin of the nose in the area between the upper lip of the mouth and the tip of the nose which is barely visible after it is sutured.
Rhinoplasty
If only the tip of the nose is not aesthetically acceptable, this can be corrected either with the classical rhinoplasty method, or with open rhinoplasty. Large nostrils can be reduced to esthetically acceptable limits by using very small incisions on the sides of the nostrils. After the surgery, the patient is discharged from the hospital with a splint in the nose area. Gauzes are placed inside the nose, which remain in place for 48 hours, while the splint is removed after 7 to 10 days. Most of the swelling and oozing will go away over 2 to 4 weeks. The patient can return to his daily activities after about 3 days. The external sutures (if any) are removed in 5 to 7 days. 60% approximately the aesthetic result is evident after 3 months, while you will see the final result in 12 to 14 months. Transient bleeding and reduced sense of smell can be a result of this particular surgery, but problems that usually don't last long. The result of rhinoplasty is permanent and any residual abnormalities can be corrected with a much smaller surgery under local anesthesia.
What can rhinoplasty achieve for me?
Rhinoplasty is the perfect operation to achieve the following: 1. Balance the size of the nose with the rest of the facial features 2. Modify the width of the bridge of the nose 3. Improve the profile of the nose, including removing humps or depressions 4 .Correcting the outline of the tip of the nose 5. Changing the angle between the nose and the mouth 6. Thinning and reshaping the nostrils 7. Correcting asymmetry or deviation
Each operation is completely tailored to help each patient achieve the desired result. The desired result will be discussed with the doctor before the operation in order to ensure full communication and understanding between the patient and the doctor for the most accurate result.
You are considered a suitable candidate for rhinoplasty when:
1) You are at least 15 years old 2) You have reached the end of your facial development 3) You are generally healthy 4) You do not smoke 5) You are considering rhinoplasty for personal reasons and not because someone else is pressuring you to do it 6) You have realistic expectations about the procedure During your appointment with the doctor, you will further discuss whether rhinoplasty is the right treatment for you, after an extensive evaluation of your nose structure, medical history and overall health.
What do you need to do before rhinoplasty?
Before your surgery, plastic surgeon Dr. Pantelidis will give you precise instructions to ensure safety and accuracy on the day of surgery. Try to reduce or even stop smoking before surgery. Also do not consume food or drink after the afternoon of the day before your surgery. It is essential to inform the doctor of any medication you are taking as you may need to stop taking certain medications before the operation.
What is rhinoplasty recovery like?
For a short time after rhinoplasty, patients may have a "bloated" feeling, nose pain or mild headache, swelling and bruising, bleeding or stuffiness. You may not be able to breathe through your nose for the first 24 hours after surgery. A soft bandage is placed inside your nose to maintain structure after surgery, which is removed within 24 hours. Most patients return to work in 1-2 weeks. The results of rhinoplasty gradually become visible as the days pass after the surgery and the swelling subsides. Swelling may recur during the first year after surgery. It is usually observed in the morning. Contact lenses can be worn immediately, but it may take 3 weeks to wear glasses.
Will I like the result of rhinoplasty?
The results of rhinoplasty may take a few months to be seen as the swelling and bruising subside. Some initial results are obvious, but may look somewhat unnatural due to swelling. The end result is usually permanent, giving patients the opportunity to have a good appearance for many years. Patients with realistic goals are generally very happy with their new nose shape. The exact result depends on the structure of the nasal bone and cartilage of the patient, the shape of the face, the thickness of the skin and the age.
Is rhinoplasty considered a safe surgery?
Rhinoplasty is considered safe for most patients with only a small risk of complications such as infection, nosebleeds, nasal obstruction and reaction to anesthesia. Some patients may be dissatisfied with the aesthetic result of the procedure.
What is revision rhinoplasty?
Repetitive or secondary rhinoplasty corrects deformities created by previous nose surgery. It is a more difficult procedure than the original rhinoplasty because there is less cartilage and because the tissues may have scarred or tightened. It is recommended that you wait at least one year after the initial procedure before undergoing a repeat rhinoplasty, as the results will still be visible and the swelling may take several months to subside.
Tummy tuck
THE Abdominoplasty is an aesthetic and functional restoration of the anterior abdominal wall. It aims to correct deformities of the skin, fatty tissue and muscle wall.
What happens at the initial meeting with the doctor?
During your visit, you will discuss with the plastic surgeon the changes you would like to make to your appearance. Because this is a completely personal decision, you should have plenty of time to discuss all your concerns and wishes. You should inform him if you are taking any medication and about your general state of health. Make sure you learn everything you would like to about this surgery. Comprehensive knowledge about the options and benefits of such surgery is key to making the right decision
How is abdominoplasty performed?
The anesthetist administers the anesthesia and then cleans the area with an antiseptic. Because this is a completely personal decision, you should have plenty of time to discuss all your concerns and wishes. The incision is made horizontally, low, just above the adolescent's scalp, as in a caesarean section, to be covered by the bathing suit or underwear. Then the skin together with the subcutaneous fat is detached at the normal level from the muscles of the abdominal wall, up to almost the height of the ribs. The navel stands out from the surrounding skin. Thus the skin below the umbilicus and excess can be removed, along with stretch marks, scars, etc., while that which was above the umbilicus can be pulled down and sutured to the skin at the pubic line. The existence of surgical scars from previous operations is taken into account in the planning of the operation, for their complete removal or improvement. The abdominal muscles are tightened, closing the loose fascia together with careful suturing, as in a hernia. In the part of the already stretched abdominal skin that corresponds to the navel, a corresponding opening is made and it is sutured. The stitching is done with special internal stitches. A thin drain is placed and the incision is covered with adhesive tape only. A small piece of gauze is placed over the navel. Other gauzes or bandages are not used
Face & neck lifting
Over time, gravity, exposure to sunlight and the stress of everyday life change the appearance of our face and neck. Deep wrinkles appear next to the mouth, the jaw relaxes and the neck develops loose folds and fat deposits. The face lift erases these signs of age by tightening the muscles and removing fat and excess skin, giving your face a fresher and younger appearance. After surgery, some patients look 10-15 years younger!
The face lifting, also known as rhytidectomy rejuvenates the middle and lower part of the face and neck. The face lift is most effective in patients who want to correct:
- Relaxation of the middle face
- Deep wrinkles under the eyes
- Deep wrinkles between the nose and mouth (nasolabial folds)
- Loose areas of fat
- Loose skin and fat under the jaw and jawline
Facelift
It is the plastic and aesthetic operation reconstruction of the vulva (Vagina Designing). In the literature it is known as Vaginoplasty. The purpose of the operation is to regenerate and redesign the tissues of the area externally so that the appearance of the vulva is as desired by the woman.
What is the medical procedure?
Examination and discussion with the specialist doctor is the first step. Every woman certainly has different expectations from the operation, but the doctor is the one who will explain the possibilities that exist, because as you can see, every woman's body is different. The operation begins with the planning of the areas in which we will intervene. This stage is extremely important because it also determines the final result. Then we proceed to the sections on this drawing. The cuts should be done with absolute precision and detail. The operation is performed with local, general or even epidural anesthesia, in an organized and specially equipped center or in an appropriately equipped clinic and its duration is from 2 to 3 hours. There is no need to stay in the clinic until a few hours later for the woman's safety.
Return to work is immediate even the next day and at normal rates (exercise, sexual intercourse, etc.) in a period of 6-8 weeks. The medication you will need to take is some antibiotics and some topical ointments for a week. Post-operative pain is minimal and tolerable and is generally managed with mild pain medication. The area will be free without bandages or gauze.
Breast augmentation
THE breast augmentation is an operation to make the breast bigger and fuller. The result is natural and greatly improves the appearance of the breasts and the psychology of the woman. Today there are several inserts available, but mainly silicone inserts are used. Also, general anesthesia is usually applied.
What happens at the initial meeting with the doctor?
During your visit, you will discuss with the plastic surgeon the size you would like your breasts to achieve. The doctor will determine the size of the implants that will achieve the desired result. She will also explain the various options you have, including the location of the incision, the placement of the implants, the type of implants, and whether you would benefit from a breast lift. You will also be informed about the anesthesia that the doctor will use during the procedure. You should inform him about your general state of health and if you are taking any medication.
How is breast augmentation done?
During breast augmentation we make an incision, lift the mass gland creating a "pocket" under the breast area and place an insert made of a soft and natural to the touch material. The incision can be made in one of the following places: in the fold under the breast or through the areola. The inserts can be placed either under the pectoral muscle, or directly under the breasts.
Today there are several inserts available, but mainly silicone inserts are used. Also, general anesthesia is usually applied.
How long does the operation take?
Breast augmentation takes one to two hours.
Do I have to stay in the hospital?
Most surgeries are done on the same day. You can go home a few hours after the operation. However, if you wish or if necessary, you may stay in the hospital overnight.
It hurts;
It is a minimally painful operation. The pain lasts one to two days, lessens each day, and is comfortably managed with painkillers. Most women report that they are very satisfied and feel only a minor discomfort. Make sure you have someone with you after the operation to take you home. You may need help at home for the first couple of days. The doctor may give you an antibiotic and some anti-inflammatory medicine to take after the operation.
What can I expect after surgery?
Your breasts will be wrapped in gauze as well as a tighter bandage for protection and support.
How is the recovery period?
Immediately after surgery you should wear a sports bra to help your breasts maintain a nice and balanced shape.
Your incisions will be pink for a few weeks. After a few months they will start to fade. You should visit the doctor post-surgery for a review in order to ensure a quick and healthy recovery with his guidance. For at least 3-5 days, you should limit the extent of your arms to a minimum. The elbows should not be raised higher than the armpit.
After a few days, the gauzes are removed. The stitches come out in a week to ten days but swelling will continue and subside after a few weeks. Due to the swelling, your breasts may feel hard but will gradually begin to soften and become normal to the touch.
What is the result of this operation in the long term?
During breast augmentation, the breasts appear larger throughout the lifetime of the implants. Larger breasts tend to sag faster than smaller ones, and this also happens with breast augmentation. You may need breast lift surgery later to correct this sagging. Gravity unfortunately makes no exceptions.
Breast Lift/Reduction
What are the advantages of breast reduction?
Breast reduction is a successful operation to make the breasts smaller and firmer. The result is natural and greatly improves the appearance of the breasts, the quality of life, and the woman's psychology in general.
What happens at the initial meeting with the doctor?
During your visit, you will discuss with the plastic surgeon the changes you would like to make to your appearance. Because this is a completely personal decision, you should have all the time to discuss all your concerns and wishes as well as how much you would like to reduce your breasts.
You should inform him if you are taking any medication and about your general state of health. Make sure you learn everything you would like to about this surgery.
Comprehensive knowledge about the options and benefits of such surgery is key to making the right decision.
How long does the operation take?
A breast reduction usually takes three to four hours. The duration of the procedure varies depending on the technique used and the anatomy of the patient as well as the size of the breasts.
Do I have to stay in the hospital?
You usually need to stay in hospital overnight.
How painful is it?
Minimally painful. The pain lasts one to two days, lessens each day, and is comfortably managed with painkillers. Despite the initial discomfort, most women report that they are very satisfied with the result of the operation. When you wake up, you will feel good. It is important to follow the medication prescribed by the doctor. Make sure you have someone with you to drive you home while you may need help around the house for the first couple of days. The surgeon will give you antibiotics and some other medicines, (probably painkillers, iron, etc.), which you will take after the operation. It would be good to have the recipe in advance.
Blepharoplasty
THE blepharoplasty, can rejuvenate puffy and tired eyes by removing fat, skin and muscle from the upper and/or lower eyelids. Blepharoplasty can be performed both for cosmetic reasons and to improve vision due to drooping eyelids.
For better results, you can combine blepharoplasty with face lifting, or Botox.
What can blepharoplasty correct?
1. Loose, drooping and/or folded upper eyelids which may obstruct vision 2. Fatty deposits on the upper eyelids 3. Bags under the eyes 4. Drooping lower eyelids which may make the whites of the eyes visible underneath the iris 5. Excess skin on the lower eyelids 6. Fine wrinkles on the lower eyelids
What does blepharoplasty not fix?
Blepharoplasty does not lift the eyebrows and does not reduce the appearance of deep wrinkles, "crow's feet" and dark circles under the eyes.
How is blepharoplasty performed?
Blepharoplasty is performed in one of the most modern operating rooms of clinics with which we cooperate. Patients are under local anesthesia. The whole process takes about 1.5 hours. The incisions are made in the normal folds of the upper eyelids and just below the eyelashes of the lower eyelids. The plastic surgeon removes excess skin from the eyelids. He may even need to remove fat as well. Then, he closes the incisions with stitches.
How is recovery from blepharoplasty?
It is common to have bruising, swelling and a tight feeling after blepharoplasty. These symptoms will subside in 2-4 weeks. Most patients return to their daily activities within 5-7 days once the non-absorbable sutures are removed, and return to work in about 10 days. Within 1-2 months after the operation, you will see the real results of blepharoplasty: your eyes will look more rested and bright, and your self-confidence will soar. Contact lenses should not be worn for about 2 weeks. Your eyes may be sensitive to light and wind and irritated for a while. The doctor will give you a prescription for eye drops and recommend cold compresses for relief.
What are the risks of blepharoplasty?
Complications from blepharoplasty are rare, but may include infection, reaction to anesthesia, dry eyes, diplopia or blurred vision for a few days, temporary swelling of the eyelids, and difficulty closing the eyes during sleep. Uneven healing and scarring as well as ectropion (pulling down of the lower eyelids) are very rare and require surgical correction. Patients with thyroid problems, dry eyes, high blood pressure, diabetes, detached retina, glaucoma or other health problems should see an ophthalmologist for advice on whether or not they can opt for this treatment.
