What are varicose veins?
Varicose veins they are called the distended (swollen) veins of the lower extremities.
These are pathological "superficial" veins that present a malfunction of the valves, as a result of which the blood returns downwards and these veins "swell". In addition to the aesthetic problem caused by varicose veins, this disease can cause complications such as swelling in the lower extremities, venous ulcers, skin disease of the legs (eczema), pain (tired or heavy legs) or even more serious ones such as bleeding from varicose veins or its clotting.
Symptoms
The most common symptoms of varicose veins are:
- Swelling
- Pain and itching
- Skin changes
- Feeling of heaviness and fatigue in the calves
Coping
A few years ago, the methods of treating and treating varicose veins were expensive and painful as the patient was required to enter the operating room and be hospitalized for several days. The options were:
- Surgery, during which the vein was removed.
- Intraluminal laser, where the vein was shrinking
- Radio waves or radio frequencies.
In all 3 options above, the procedure took place in the operating room and the patient was required to be anaesthetized, while often various incisions had to be made in the lower limbs and in the groin.
Hardening foam
However, a few years ago another possibility of treating varicose veins has been added, this one with hardening foam. In addition to being painless and quick, the procedure is also economical, while after a short period of 30-45 minutes the patient can return to his daily life. No anesthesia is required and the whole procedure is done with the help of ultrasound and takes about 20 minutes. In recent medical conferences, studies have been done that sclerofoam can treat 70% with 80% of varicose veins thus demonstrating this form of treatment as revolutionary.
