      Yoga in Tinos

Eleni was born in Athens 1.5 months earlier than scheduled and weighed 2 kg. Breathing came a little after normal. Through yoga she found her breath again.
In her post-adolescent years, a car accident created hollows in her neck. He lived with them until the symptoms became quite painful. Then he met yoga in England and realized that the body itself has the ability to heal pain, with exercise, individualized practice and proper alignment.
Eleni is a yogini of the time. She graduated from the School of Law in 2003 and completed her Msc in Management studies at Brunel, London (2004-2005). In 2013 she completed the 200h Yoga Teacher Training at NYSY with Vivi Letsou (Anusara Yoga). Since then she participates/attends seminars and different yoga schools, Yoga Swings, Yoga kids (Rainbow kids Yoga), Vinyasa Flow, Ashtanga and Bhakthi.
Faithful to her daily practice, she lives in Tinos with Giovanni and their dog Ricky. She dreams of destinations and remains curious.
Yoga is a holistic health system with roots in India 5,000 years ago and does not belong to any religion. It is an art of living and a science dedicated to connecting with the divine. The word yoga means 'Union', bringing mind and body together, back to its natural state. The very name hatha, – a combination of ha meaning sun and tha meaning moon, suggests the union of opposites. It is a state of being in the present, focusing on the here and now. Every day we deal with the fluctuations of the mind and emotions – anger, sadness, frustration, jealousy, fear, nervousness, happiness, joy and excitement. We use yoga as a tool to manage everyday stressful situations.
By doing yoga through a series of poses that will make you sweat and burn calories, you'll start to notice small changes in how you feel. It will help you to have health, well-being, calmness, abundant energy and heightened consciousness. It is more effective than any other system for improving flexibility, muscle tone, endurance and posture.
Yoga is not competitive. Even when you're in a classroom full of people, it's still a personal practice. It is a time to look within, stay with our breath, and move through the flow of postures, always respecting our bodies.
Traditional Hatha Yoga includes: Asanas, Kriyas (purification rituals), Pranayama (Breathing Exercises – Regulating or controlling the breath) & Mudras for awakening Kudalini, Madra, Deep relaxation, Nutrition.
      * Tinos is the fourth largest island of the Cyclades after Naxos, Andros and Paros. It has 8,574 inhabitants divided into 62 settlements. It belongs to the northern Cyclades and is SE. of Andros and NW. of Mykonos. The distance from Andros, the so-called Andros - Tinos strait, is 1/2 mile, while the closest distance from the shores of Mykonos is about 5 miles and 9 miles from port to port. South-west of the island and at a distance of 12 miles is Syros, where the capital of the prefecture of Cyclades, Ermoupolis. Tsiknias, located in the east, is the highest mountain of the island with a height of 726 m. In the central part dominates the precipitous rock of Exomburgos (or Xoburgos) with a height of 641 m. with the Ancient and Venetian city, whose upper part is by nature invulnerable because it is steep on three sides and the plateau of Patela or "war field ». The shape of the island is elongated triangular. The total length of the coastline, which presents a rich horizontal and vertical segmentation, with many bays and capes, is estimated at a total of 114 km, together with the rocky islets of Kalogeri at the northern end, and the islets of Planitis, Drakonisi and Prasonisia on the northern coasts, while the periplus of its beaches at a short distance from the coast reaches about 37 N. miles.

      Hatha Yoga

Yoga is a process of inquiry for the teacher as well. During practice, I like to encourage students to turn inward, to become observers of the mind, the body's breath. I teach Hatha Yoga, in which we do asana (postures) in preparation for meditation. There is nothing pretentious about my practice, but instead I create classes with a playful series of exercises, and I try to have students experience strength, joy, celebration in their little mattress in a practice that intends to unify the mind, body and soul.

      Swing Yoga

It becomes "airy" with yoga exercises on the swings. You will leave this class happier, healthier and taller. Some of the most common benefits of Swing Yoga are: a strong core, improved alignment and strong shoulders. It is a full body workout that decompresses the spine and thus helps realign the entire torso properly. At the same time, the most important benefit of Yoga, in terms of health, is staying in inverted postures - due to the support of the soft fabric - inversions relieve back pain, slow down the aging process and improve the mobility of the spine, improve digestion and emptying, enhance the proper functioning of the lymph nodes and the purification of the blood. They also lift the mood as we become like little children again, letting the fabric of the crib hold us up in the air. Swing Yoga is so much fun and you don't need any previous yoga or acrobatic experience.
