Photoprotection at its... prime!

Photoprotection at its... prime!

Overexposure to UV rays triggers a chain reaction, such as a sudden acne flare-up.

Be careful, the sun is burning

According to scientists, 10-20 minutes of daily sun exposure for people with fair skin and 20-30 minutes for people with dark skin may have beneficial effects on acne scars. Excessive exposure to UV rays, however, not only causes damage and premature aging of skin cells, but in the 2-3 weeks that follow, the inflammation from a possible, even mild sunburn, triggers a chain of reactions, such as the sudden acne flare-up.

A sunscreen tailored to you

Many women and teenagers who suffer from acne on their face, even though they know that high photoprotection is necessary, avoid using sunscreen either because they hate the shine it leaves on their skin, or because they prefer make-up, even with a low index SPF, because their priority is to camouflage acne scars. And yet there is the right thing sunscreen which will not create problems, but solve them. It's all a matter of… texture! If you have oily, acne-prone skin, choose a sunscreen cream or gel with a high protection index and ingredients that absorb shine and offer a "dry" effect, without white marks. Make sure that its composition is oil-free and does not cause breakouts (blackheads). If you are interested in camouflaging acne scars and avoiding the use of make-up on the beach, but also in the city, choose a fluid sunscreen with color, resistant to water and sweat, that does not create imperfections and offers an even natural face color.

Did you know that…

A face sunscreen with a high sun protection factor is essential if you are taking medication to treat acne. As dermatologists explain, certain active ingredients (such as retinoic acid) cause photosensitivity and make even dark-skinned skin react to the sun, as if it belonged to the phototype.
