In these places, residents follow \u2013 as reflected in years of research \u2013 some common points in their lifestyles that help them stay healthy into old age.<\/p>\n

Daily exercise for the body, training the mind, low weight, diet rich in fruit and vegetables<\/a> and poor in meat are just some of the common characteristics of people living in the "blue zones".<\/p>\n

Scientists also concluded that the inhabitants of these areas were turning their backs on dietary supplements and vitamins<\/a> \u2013 something that happens a lot in big cities around the world \u2013 while they generously consumed what nature offered them.<\/p>\n

It is indicative that in these five distinct parts of the world the diet consists mainly of whole grains, legumes, vegetables and fish.<\/p>\n

What research has shown about nutrition that contributes to longevity \u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The scientists' conclusions showed that the inhabitants in these areas eat little meat, enough fish, such as sardines and cod, as well as a lot of fruits and vegetables. In particular, the inhabitants of these five regions have the following common nutritional characteristics:<\/p>\n
