Every day our skin receives "hidden" attacks from the environment, the sun, but also from... the blue light emitted by our mobile phone!
\nWhen most of us think about our health and the signs of aging, our minds go to the usual suspects... long hours in the sun, tanning beds, sleeping with paint, or even cigarettes. While all of the above are factors that cause premature aging, they are not the only ones, there is one more everyday, "hidden" factor that we are unaware of.
\nEvery day, the skin is attacked by insidious environmental factors and one of them is the blue light from the screens of electronic devices, such as mobile phones, tablets, computers, etc...<\/p>\n

What is blue light?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Blue radiation is everywhere around us, from the sun's rays to electronic devices such as smartphones, tablets, televisions and devices with Led lighting. The sun emits significantly more radiation than our favorite device, but the time we spend in close proximity to it multiplies its effects.<\/p>\n

Why is it harmful?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Blue radiation because it emits at 380-500nm is characterized by shorter wavelengths but with more energy.
\nVisible radiation penetrates the skin deeper than UVA and UVB, and has been shown to produce more free radicals than UVA and UVB combined. This increases the production of so-called oxidative stress (ROS), which, as is known, is harmful to the skin and our health in general.<\/p>\n

Info of the day: did you know that 8 hours of work in front of a computer screen causes the same damage as 20 minutes of exposure to the afternoon sun? Do your calculations, bearing in mind that 7 minutes of exposure to the sun at 1:00 PM is enough to cause an instant tan.<\/p>\n

Excessive exposure to blue radiation accelerates the oxidation process, wears out skin cells and negatively affects melatonin levels. Oxidation also burdens and destroys the natural barrier of our skin, so it cannot retain cellular water and is vulnerable to environmental attacks. The results are that the skin shows visible signs of aging, hyperpigmentation, dullness and fine lines or wrinkles.<\/p>\n
